Switzerland 1-0 Albania
Switzerland made a winning start to UEFA EURO 2016 but the ten men of Albania gave them an almighty scare in the teams' first Group A outing. The match was only five minutes old when the Nati capped a bright start with the only goal, Fabian Schär rising to head in Xherdan Shaqiri's corner.

Group B
Wales 2 - 1 Slovakia
Joe Allen was the star for Wales in their 2-1 win over Slovakia as Gareth Bale looked uncomfortable up front on his own, despite opening the scoring with a free-kick. Slovakia captain Martin Skrtel was lucky not to be sent off as he attempted to keep Wales at bay with a number of rough challenges, while goalkeeper Matus Kozacik was at fault for the first goal.
England 1-1 Russia
A last-gasp Vasili Berezutski goal denied England three points after Eric Dier looked to have given Roy Hodgson's side three points. Dier fired in a wonderful free-kick from just outside the 18-yard box to give England the lead on 73 minutes, but there was heartbreak late on. Roy Hodgson's side were dominant throughout at the Stade Velodrome in Marseille, but it took until late in the game before Russia's resolve was finally broken. But just as England looked to have won their opening Group B match, Berezutski and Russia struck late on.
