Group D
Turkey 0-1 Croatia
Croatia wins 1-0 Turkey at the Parc des Princes in the French capital on Sunday. Real Madrid's player, Luka Modric, fired Croatia into the lead with an outstanding volley from the edge of the area shortly before half-time in Paris. They like France too, having come third at the World Cup here in 1998, when Davor Suker was the tournament's top scorer, and they showed glimpses of their undoubted potential back.
Poland wins 1-0 Northern Ireland at the Allianz Riviera Stadium on Sunday evening. For Poland scores Arkadiusz Milik in their opening Group C match on 51 minutes but Jonny Evans helped to keep Poland's star striker Robert Lewandowski quiet.
Germany 2-0 Ukraine
Germany wins 2-0 Ukrainein Lille on Sunday night. Shkodran Mustafi headed in the first and Bastian Schweinsteiger came off the bench to grab a very popular second and it felt rather ominous but this was by no means a comfortable victory. Germany have never lost their opening fixture in the European Championship.
