The deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history leaves at least 50 Dead and 53 injured at gay Orlando Nightclub, Florida.
The gunman opened fire at Pulse about 2 a.m. local time, engaging in a gun battle with police before taking hostages at the club.
Around 5 a.m., authorities decided to attempt to rescue the hostages, leading to a gunfire exchange. A few minutes later he was killed in a second gun battle.
According to CNN, CBS News and NBC News have all reported police sources as identifying the shooter as a 29-year-old from Afghanistan, named Mateen but the shooter has not yet officially named by the Authorities.
Authorities do not yet know a motive.
